They falsely claim their wigs are “virgin European hair” when the hair has in fact been processed (which is illegal, btw –misrepresentation of product features).

I recently purchased a wig from them (at there Brooklyn, NY location) for $4,600, only to wear it for a few hours and came to find that it tangled/matted horribly, like one giant, dreadlocked clump. I took it to my local wig store for a second opinion & they confirmed what I suspected – the hair has been processed, and they did a bad job of it because the cuticles aren’t laying in the same direction, which is causing the tangling.

Before I knew about the tangling issue, I paid $200 (insuring it for $4,600 was expensive) to have it shipped back to them to get it resized, as it was way too small. However, they sent it back to me (nearly a month later) just as small, only now it has two lumps on both sides of the cap where the wefts poke out, like two little devil’s horns. When I sent them pictures, they acknowledged that they could see the issue. They also said the lack of ear temples is why it was still too small, and that they would send me a shipping label to fix it (Why did they not send me a shipping label the first time around? And why did they not know the ear temples were the problem the first time around).

At that point, I asked for a refund. I was extremely angry that they would send it back to me in the condition that they did to begin with, AFTER LYING about what kind of hair it was. So even if they could make it fit me, fix the horns, and somehow make the hair not tangle, I still don’t want to give them my business. They of course declined the refund, so I’m in the process of disputing the charge with my credit card company. If that fails, I will have to file a suit against them in NYC’s small claims court for misrepresentation of product features.

Please, save yourself a lot of hassle and do not buy from this company. It is not hard to find similar reviews for them if you poke around online (Google Reviews, Yelp, etc.). I have several Gali wigs (Great Neck, NY) that are MUCH nicer than this that cost half as much, and they don’t lie about their hair being processed. You’ve been warned!

I have had my Yaffa for almost 3 years now and I am really unhappy with it and would not recommend buying a Yaffa. The hair is straw like, it doesn't hold a curl, when I get it washed and set it only lasts a couple days and falls. It does have a good cap and is very comfortable but the hair is bad quality.

I have 3 Yaffas and I am so happy with them! Their new virgin European line is gorgeous and super natural, and their customer service is amazing. Lilly (in the Crown Heights location) is so sweet and accommodating. Highly recommend!

I have 2 yaffa's and I am extremely happy with them! lilly in crown heights was a real pleasure to work with. She helped me purchase my first yaffa 5 years ago and it is still going strong!!! The wigs are very decent priced and she included a free cut, which she told me I could use anytime within one year!! The quality of the hair is unreal! No one is able to tell it is a wig!!! Most wigs knot up a lot especially in winter but not my yaffa!! It hardly knots up at all!! I am so happy that I chose Lilly to help me find the perfect wig, she was extremely honest and fully backs her product!! Highly recommend Lilly in crown heights!!!!

i owned 4 yaffas and was extremely happy with all of them. lilly in crown heights really makes sure that the customers are happy. the wigs are very decent priced and you have everything pretty much included like the cut and styling, babyhair, cap adjustments so at the end of a purchase you dont need to spend another $500. so many of my friends got yaffas from lilly in crown heights and they are all extremely thrilled! different yaffa stores have different customer service policies so you need to be careful that the person you buy your wig from will take good care of you

My wig had a defect and I sent it back to Yaffa wigs in boro park. They admittene dhter was a defect but refused to give me money back.
From this experience, I learned that customer service is the most important thing to look for in a wig, and the owner of yaffa was so rude to me. I believe it's a mitzva to publicize how terrible their service is.

It is worth buying a Yaffa Shaitel at Yaffa Precuts in Crown Heights because it comes with Leelee and her incredible Customer Service! She is so sweet and bends over backwards to make sure that you are 100% satisfied with your Shaitel. I have had Shaitels from other companies and any time I needed something fixed (even within a few months of buying it) it was a struggle and pain and with my Yaffa it was a easy and pleasant process. I’m on my third Yaffa and highly recommend them!

I bought a yaffa when I was a Kallah. It was a neutral experience except for when it came to the coloring and styling they kept telling me that they knew what I wanted without even listening to me. Over the next year I dealt with hair falling out and being treated like garbage. They yelled at me blaming me for hair falling out. I just wanted my money back. They sent the wig back to the manufacturer to add hair and said it would take 6 weeks. 3 months later I got my wig back looking exactly the same as when I gave it to them. I was so upset that I brought it in and spoke to yaffa herself. She made me feel so bad about the whole thing that I just cried in the store. She let me take a new one and that one wasn't even any better. I brought it to someone else because the cap was way too big and they said that the hair was mixed in with a lot of plastic hair and that's why it wasn't styling nicely or looking natural so I was forced to cut full bangs and make it much shorter than I wanted. I won't be buying another yaffa.

I got my yaffa from leelee in crown heights. She was so helpful and patient. The hair was amazing for about 2 years but then would get frizzy about 2 weeks after I got it washed and set, sometimes sooner. It was really comfortable and I wish it would have lasted longer.

I'll give the benefit of the doubt and say I got a defective Yaffa. It was my first sheital so I didn't really know what to look for. I've only had it for about 2 1/2 years but only really wore it for the first year. I hated it so much so I got another sheital after that first year. Now I use it as my rain and snow sheital. Curl lasts 4-5 days and then goes completely flat. Hair feels like straw and has a plastic-y shine to it. Thinned out like crazy. Split ends everywhere. Totally unimpressed and very disappointed.

The reason I am giving this wig five stars is because I feel you get what you pay for. This is a very cheap wig, I got it on sale and I am very happy with it. The hair is great. The fit is also good. I don't expect the wig to last me longer than a year but for the price I paid I am ok with it. I don't think the service there is amazing but for an extra wig it's definitely worth to buy it.

I have never been as disappointed in a company as I am with Yaffa Wigs. The wig I bought had a flaw in the cap- there was a bulge in the top of the wig. The salesperson told me it would flatten out in a few day's time. It didn't. i sent it back a few times and finally they told me there was something wrong with the wig and it's not fixable so they'd give me 50% of my money back. I asked for 100% back but they refused. Then they decided that the 50% back would be in the form of a credit, even though I told them I never want another Yaffa wig. A while later, I finally decide to use my credit. When I went to the Yaffa store in Boro Park, and chose a wig, I was told that I couldn't use my credit because the wig I chose was from a "different line". When I tried to discuss this with the owner, she literally turned away from me and started eating her lunch and refuse to talk to me.

I have had horrible experiences each time I bought a piece from Yaffa. I have bought four pieces from them over the years because there are not many other options where I live. The last fall that I bought felt silky as anything and then as soon as I started wearing it, it became a knotty, horrible disaster. I wear it in a bun now when I work out because it doesn't wear well at all. The customer service in Florida is really unacceptable and I only say this because 1) I've dealt with it numerous times and 2) I wish I would have been warned about their customer service beforehand or I never would have purchased from them at all.
The first wig I bought from them was fantastic, very silky and held up nicely. But this last purchase just didn't cut it from me. That is my last purchase I will ever make with them.

i brought my first wig at Yaffa - natural European hair, everything was fine until i took it in for a set and blow dry in their Jerusalem salon, as i was flying the same day i left it while i ran some errands, i dident check it before i left since i was in a rush, when i got to my destination for yom tov i put my wig on and my whole family gasped, their was a chunk of hair missing it, when i complained to yaffa the service was horrendous, they told me i had done it and refused to do anything about it till i got throgh to their new york office where they told me to travel to the main salon in Bnai brak, i got there some inexperienced woman sew in hair extensions but not only did she use straw hair but she sew it in the middle instead of the roots, i hate wearing the wig practically never wear it now, i feel let down especially as i paid nearly 2000$

Go to Lillie in Crown Heights- nice, smart, not too pushy.

Four years ago I bought a long wig on sale for $700 and was told it would
last two to three years. I appreciated her honesty.

Four years later it looks great, really natural, even frum people can't tell I'm covering my hair (even when I don't take hair out). I work in midtown and besides for needing to blend in, I can be wearing a wig for 12 hours straight. My Yaffa delivers and makes this really hard mitzvah more bearable for me. I take this wig when I travel and even in a ziplock bag it keeps a bounce. I realized recently the part is starting to bald but it's not a big deal. I would consider just adding more hair (as opposed to buying a new one) because for me to find a comfy cap is a big deal.

Thinking of Rating A Wig Company?
When leaving your rating or review, please consider the following things:

At Shaytell, we value honesty above all else. Please make sure you have actually had an experience with a specific company before rating them. (This does not mean you had to purchase a wig. It could have been a consultation, a phonecall, a meeting, etc., but you should be commenting on a personal interaction.)

We encourage all reviews: good and bad. We just want you to write about it in a calm way. Try and keep language professional, and think about your review as a means of guiding someone else toward the best company rather than bashing a company you may have had a negative experience with.

Pictures are great. Your review will have most impact if you can show people what you loved or hated about your experience with that vendor!
