Yali is first and foremost, a narcissistic goniff and a chazer who thinks she is doing you a favor by deigning to let you into her shop. Don't go unless you are well connected in the community, have a lot of money to spare on yourself, are relatively good looking, and don't mind paying for crummy products with respect to construction of the cap, lack of hair fibers, and being told the truth according to Yali, as she thinks she heard it. Don't go unless you have a lot of time on your hands, and don't need the shaitel on your head any time soon.
Yali is self absorbed and treats her workers like property or garbage. Don't go there if you are in treatment for cancer, or alopecia. DONT GO THERE PERIOD. Her products are overpriced and SHE IS NOT A MENSCH.
To explain, I am not observant /orthodox, but went to this shop when I was in treatment for leukemia. Yali sold me a bill of goods along with a wig that was ill fitted and not suited to my face and frame. She was only too happy to take $5000 dollars from me. When I showed the wig to a friend, she suggested that it be trimmed to better fit my facial structure and style. It is nearly impossible to track Yali down in her shop, but we did, and she trimmed it. It was still not right, and I went back, never having worn the wig outside ( and having purchased another synthetic one in another shop). That one fit well and looked better than the Yali mop. Yali finally gave me the name of someone who she said could deal with the cut I preferred. Her styling skills are clearly limited. When I went to that person in Flatbush, NY, she told me that Yali's wig was certainly not worth $5000, and that I should go back and ask her to put more hair in in the back, where there was a complete area of empty space. Yes, it was a nice wig, but not for $5000. Maybe $2000. The Flatbush lady restyled it with no problems, and no cutting, but not before she tightened the cap with a needle and thread . I brought it back to Yali who promptly took a picture of it and claimed it as one of her own creations to add to her portfolio. I asked for more hair to be inserted, and she said she would have to give it to someone to work on, and that she would call me with the price.
For the following week, I was outraged, but could not face this narcissistic monster. I begged my friend to go in and reclaim the wig, wherein Yali told her that I was so happy with it, that I had asked about buying another wig from her, and said that she was going to call me to discuss the price of the repair. Yali would not give my friend the wig, and demanded that I come in from the car. My friend called me, and I went into the store, where Yali again stated that I had wanted another of her wigs. I told her about my visit to the Flatbush wig shop, and how that person said that I had been overcharged by at least $3000. Yes it was a nice wig, but not for $5000. She appeared to be quite shaken when it was clear that the Flatbush person knew her tricks and practices. The confrontation was not pleasant, and Yali finally gave the wig back to me without charge, and included a wig head form that she said I had also wanted to buy. My friend was prepared to stand there and wait for the police if necessary. We left the store hoping to spread the word about this miserable chazer, liar, and goniff. DON'T GO THERE!

I am reposting this review a second time, because I didn't fill out hair quality, and cap construction the first time. I do not yet know about the wig lifespan since it was recently purchased. I was recommended to Yali to make a red wig for my daughter by a good friend who has used her on several occasions. I specifically asked this friend for a recommendation, because her wigs are stunning and very natural. The red color was a very difficult one to match to my daughter's hair, however, Yali was able to find a very close color. She was extremely professional, caring, patient, and wanted very much to please my daughter. In addition, the virgin hair itself is soft and silky and absolutely gorgeous. I would not hesitate to use Yali again.

I own two wigs from gali and am so proud to wear them ! The compliments are endless. Most of all, u need to make an appointment and truly see the personal touch, friendliness , honesty and the way they treat you. You may walk in a stranger not knowing what you want and what would look good but I promise you you leave a friend. I am so happy with the wigs I have because there were so many that I thought looked but they were honest and had my best interest at heart and happy with the ones I chose. I can't wait to go back and choose I think one of the best looking hair for the best price and for the best customer service !!!

I have been wearing custom wigs for 40 years and making a wig with Yali was the most horrible experience. To cut a long story shorter: it took 3 years from the time she started until I picked it up. She couldn't get the color (blonde) , cap, fit, or part, right. I know custom caps, and the one she made for me was certainly not customized for me! She redid it somewhat, but it has never been comfortable.I couldn't pin her down, and in any case, according to her it was never her fault, only mine. One thing she gave me that was right: the hair was beautiful to begin with and so was the base color. When I asked for streaks she turned it bleached blonde. When I protested she had her apprentice put in low-lights. It turned grey and purple, I kid you not. I finally took it as I had too much money in it to leave it. I took it to Kotty ( a fabulous colorist) who saved the color. But she told me that the hair had been over dyed so often that it was fragile and I shouldnt color it again. That means when it oxidizes, I am out of luck. So instead of this $6,000 wig lasting for 10 years, it will last for about 3 years. It is still uncomfortable but I ever want to walk into Yali's shop again. I hope I find someone via this website who can adjust this wig.

I literally went through hell on earth from my experience with Yali. After paying over 3000 dollars for a wig I expected to receive a quality wig and some kind of customer service. My wig was never made correctly and she kept cutting out pieces and makeshiftly trying to piece my wig together. Also it would become knotted to the point I couldn't get a brush through it. I brought it to Yali to deal with the knotting and she cut out tons of the hair that was knotted and didn't add more hair or anything else to fix it. After only a few months of owning the wig It started shedding like crazy and the cap was totally deformed. It was barely wearable before the end of the year. I asked her to replace the wig or fix it and she said she would. I had to harrass her for two years before I got the wig replaced and it was not even my color and also didn't last a year since it shed out clumps of hair. She lied to me countless times telling me the wig was ready and I drove hrs to pick it up and she didn't even start making it !I wasted so much time and energy dealing with her. There was no customer service. I agree that the hair on my wig was good quality but I would never buy another wig from Yali again , it's not worth the aggravation and it won't last more than a year . I wish someone warned me.

I bought 2 Yali wigs when I was engaged. I knew nothing of wigs or the wig buying process. I was totally trusting Yali's expertise to be truthful with me. It turned out that the full wig was actually someone's wig that she made for them that they either didn't want or didn't like and she pieced together parts of the cap to fit my head. It looked like an old cap. The hair falls out very easily, although Yali said that happens with all wigs, now that I have others I know that isn't true. She charges a fortune for any work to be done to the wig, such as adding more hair which I had to do. The positive of my Yali wig is that the wig is very light and comfortable and the hair feels nice, although it knots very easily and falls out a lot. Hair also comes through the netting a lot. I hardly wear the wig, really just on Shabbos and after 2 weeks the style falls out and it is all knotty. So much hair has fallen out and in 3 years I don't even wear it 4 times a month.

I bought two Yali wigs when I was first married that cost $4k each. My mother and I were both clueless when it came to wigs, so we were very trusting throughout the process. I have regular dark hair which in retrospect should be easy to match, especially for the price we paid, but instead we were sold wigs that had dyed hair which I had to keep coming back to color because it would oxidize quickly. The hair has thinned out as well. My feeling is if you're going to charge a premium on your wigs, the quality of the wigs should be premium as well.

I am very disappointed with my Yali wig, and had a very negative experience from a customer service perspective. Coming in for the first time, I explained I knew very little about wigs, and would really like her to walk me through the different options. Yali sold me a fall that she said was "top quality" and made with the "best hair." What she did not explain, was that the cap is so delicate, that within a few weeks the hair would start shedding, leaving bald spots all over. The cap is also so delicate, that the first time I brought it to get washed (at a place that was recommended to me by everyone I know who wears a wig), the wig was returned with hair falling out in large clumps. I brought the wig back to Yali, in tears, as this was my first wig, cost over $5,000, and was ruined within a month. She blamed me and the place who washed my wig. According to Yali, she is the only one who can wash my wig. Well, isn't that an important piece of information that is important to make clear at the time of the purchase? I would think so. Seeing how upset I was she agreed to fix it, but months later I continue to experience the same issues with hair shedding.
On the positive side, my wig looks extremely natural and when I tell people I am wearing a wig they are completely shocked. My own family can't tell when I'm wearing it on my head and when I'm not. However, I value quality and customer experience and therefore will never return to Yalis to purchase another wig.

My mom decided to start covering her hair and Yali totally took advantage and ripped her off. It's been years and it put such a bitter taste in my moms mouth when it comes to this mitzvah.

Complete garbage. After spending over $3000 on a "custom" Yali wig, the cap didnt fit right and the hair was constantly shedding. Within the first year I had to bring the wig back to Yali to fill in bald spots. She took absolutely no responsibility and blamed me. I regret ever purchasing a Yali.

Thinking of Rating A Wig Company?
When leaving your rating or review, please consider the following things:

At Shaytell, we value honesty above all else. Please make sure you have actually had an experience with a specific company before rating them. (This does not mean you had to purchase a wig. It could have been a consultation, a phonecall, a meeting, etc., but you should be commenting on a personal interaction.)

We encourage all reviews: good and bad. We just want you to write about it in a calm way. Try and keep language professional, and think about your review as a means of guiding someone else toward the best company rather than bashing a company you may have had a negative experience with.

Pictures are great. Your review will have most impact if you can show people what you loved or hated about your experience with that vendor!
